Summary

*****Short Term Assignment - April 6, 2026 - October 31, 2026*****

ValidaTek is seeking an Intermediate System Admin to support large-scale migration and operations on a large, high-profile DOD contract. The I3TS program provides enterprise-wide IT support to enable DTRA’s Information Management & Technology Directorate (ITD) to consolidate, modernize, and continuously innovate the delivery of IT services and mission capabilities to DTRA’s internal and external mission partners operating in CONUS and OCONUS locations.

Responsibilities

  • Installation, configuration, administration, support and maintenance of systems, including associated hardware
  • Management of systems infrastructures, implementing best practices to Identify and recommend system functional specifications, configuration of physical and virtual systems and backup and recovery of IT infrastructure
  • Update and support systems by tuning performance, allocating storage space
  • Implement critical patches, reviewing systems performance logs to identify anomalies and troubleshoot issues
  • Coordinate with PMO and all Tier levels while also maintaining the ability to use knowledge of VMware Horizon View, vSphere, VDI to troubleshoot and resolve complex problems
  • Interacts with users and evaluates vendor products
  • Develops and monitors policies and standards for allocation related to the use of computing resources
  • Creates, maintains, and implements detailed documentation and maintains standard operating procedures
  • Application of security settings and other commercial best practices such as DISA STIGS
  • Provides coaching and reviewing the work of lower-level technical staff
  • Implement and maintain robust system hardening techniques using security compliance tools such as Evaluate STIG, SCAP, STIG Viewer
  • Execute preventive maintenance, and brief Change Review Board (CRB) as required for major changes to the production environment
  • Support special projects and day‐to‐day operations as needed or assigned

Qualifications

  • BS degree and 4-8 years of overall related experience with a Windows/Linus server environment, Additional experience, education and training may be considered in lieu of degree
  • Extensive experience working with virtual environments using VMware
  • Shell scripting (e.g. bash) and experience in other languages like Perl, Python, and Java
  • Experience with application of security settings and other commercial best practices such as DISA STIGS
  • Experience with Intrusion Detection/Prevention Systems (such as FireEye and McAfee sensors and sandboxes)
  • Experience with Security Incident Event Management (SIEM)
  • Must have at least an active TS/SCI Clearance
  • Currently possess DoD 8750 certification at least IAT level II, e.g. Security+ce.

Posted Min Pay Rate

USD $95,000.00/Yr.

Posted Max Pay Rate

USD $106,302.97/Yr.

Salary Disclosure

Actual salary will be based on a variety of factors including but not limited to experience, geographic location, contract affordability, internal equity, education, and certifications.

The upper end of the salary range may be reserved for individuals who have demonstrated tenure with the company, seniority, and proven excellent performance. This includes factors such as education, certifications, and extensive/unique experience beyond what is required.
