Summary

The Configuration Management Lead will provide leadership, oversight, and execution of configuration management (CM) processes and practices for a DISA program. This role is responsible for ensuring that all IT systems, applications, and infrastructure components are properly documented, controlled, and maintained throughout their lifecycle. The CM Lead will establish and enforce policies, procedures, and standards that align with ITIL best practices, Risk Management Framework (RMF) requirements, and DISA directives, while ensuring minimal service disruption and maximum operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of configuration management frameworks and processes in alignment with ITIL v3/v4 best practices.
  • Oversee the creation, maintenance, and validation of configuration management databases (CMDB) and ensure accuracy of configuration items (CIs).
  • Plan, execute, review, and monitor IT configurations to ensure compliance with organizational policies and to minimize operational disruptions.
  • Utilize service management tools to automate configuration tracking, reporting, and change integration across enterprise environments.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with configuration management, ensuring proper controls and recovery measures are in place.
  • Ensure configuration items and changes comply with DoD security directives, RMF standards, and other applicable compliance requirements.
  • Collaborate with IT teams, business units, and senior leadership to align configuration management processes with program goals and mission requirements.
  • Prepare and present configuration status reports, audits, and compliance assessments for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior configuration management staff, ensuring consistent application of CM methodologies across the program.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in configuration management roles.
  • Axelos ITIL v3 Certification.
  • Active Top Secret/SCI clearance.
  • Demonstrated expertise in applying CM principles and methodologies to large-scale IT environments.
  • Experience with service management tools for infrastructure configuration and automation.
  • Strong understanding of RMF standards and compliance requirements.
  • Proven ability to assess risks and implement effective mitigation strategies.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder engagement skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Axelos ITIL v4 (or higher) Certification.
  • Prior experience supporting DISA or DoD programs.
  • Familiarity with Agile and DevSecOps practices as they relate to configuration and change management.

USD $100,000.00/Yr.

Posted Max Pay Rate

USD $125,000.00/Yr.

Salary Disclosure

Actual salary will be based on a variety of factors including but not limited to experience, geographic location, contract affordability, internal equity, education, and certifications.

The upper end of the salary range may be reserved for individuals who have demonstrated tenure with the company, seniority, and proven excellent performance. This includes factors such as education, certifications, and extensive/unique experience beyond what is required.
