Summary

SHIFT TIME: Monday - Friday 0600-1430

 

We are seeking a motivated Junior Infrastructure Administrator to support day-to-day IT infrastructure operations on a Department of Defense Cybersecurity program.. This role is ideal for individuals starting their careers in system administration or IT operations who are eager to gain hands-on experience in enterprise environments. The Junior Infrastructure Administrator will assist with basic system tasks, routine maintenance, and infrastructure support under the guidance of senior team members.

Responsibilities

System Operations & Support:

  • Assist in the deployment, configuration, and maintenance of servers, storage systems, and virtualization platforms.
  • Perform routine system checks, monitoring, and reporting to ensure uptime and performance.
  • Provide basic troubleshooting for hardware, software, and network-related issues.
  • Help manage user accounts, permissions, and system access in coordination with IT security policies.

Maintenance & Documentation:

  • Apply system patches and updates following documented procedures and guidance.
  • Maintain accurate infrastructure documentation including diagrams, system configurations, and knowledge base articles.
  • Track IT assets, hardware inventory, and software licenses.

Collaboration & Incident Response:

  • Work closely with infrastructure, help desk, and network teams to resolve service requests and incidents.
  • Escalate complex issues to senior administrators or engineers while maintaining ownership of tasks until resolution.

Security & Compliance:

  • Support compliance with security policies and best practices by following established protocols (e.g., password management, system hardening tasks).
  • Participate in audits and vulnerability remediation activities as directed.

Learning & Development:

  • Participate in training and professional development activities to expand technical knowledge.
  • Assist in automation initiatives by learning basic scripting (e.g., PowerShell, Bash) as skills progress.

Qualifications

  • 0–3 years of experience in IT system administration, technical support, or related fields (internships, volunteer, or academic projects considered).
  • Active DoD Secret clearance with eligibility for a Top Secret clearance
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Familiarity with Windows Server and/or Linux operating systems.
  • Basic understanding of virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
  • Knowledge of networking fundamentals (IP addressing, DNS, DHCP, etc.).
  • Exposure to infrastructure monitoring tools and ticketing systems (e.g., ServiceNow, Jira, Remedy).
  • Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Good communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Willingness to learn new technologies and processes.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CompTIA A+, Network+, or Server+ certification (or working towards completion).
  • Experience with IT support tools (e.g., remote desktop, configuration management).
  • Familiarity with ITIL service management concepts.

 

Posted Min Pay Rate

USD $50,000.00/Yr.

Posted Max Pay Rate

USD $70,000.00/Yr.

Salary Disclosure

Actual salary will be based on a variety of factors including but not limited to experience, geographic location, contract affordability, internal equity, education, and certifications.

The upper end of the salary range may be reserved for individuals who have demonstrated tenure with the company, seniority, and proven excellent performance. This includes factors such as education, certifications, and extensive/unique experience beyond what is required.
