Summary

We are seeking a talented Senior Infrastructure Administrator to lead the design, deployment, and maintenance of robust IT infrastructure supporting a Department of Defense Cybersecurity program. This role provides technical leadership in managing on-premises and hybrid cloud environments, ensuring optimal performance, high availability, and strong security posture across critical systems. The Senior Infrastructure Administrator will also guide junior staff, contribute to strategic IT initiatives, and play a key role in modernizing the enterprise infrastructure stack.

Responsibilities

  • Infrastructure Design & Implementation:
    Architect, implement, and optimize infrastructure solutions including servers, storage, virtualization platforms, and hybrid cloud integrations to support current and future business needs.
  • System Administration & Operations:
    Oversee daily operations of infrastructure systems, including installation, configuration, patching, and lifecycle management for hardware and software components.
  • Performance & Availability Management:
    Proactively monitor infrastructure health, capacity, and availability using advanced monitoring tools; perform root cause analysis and resolution of complex system issues.
  • Data Center & Disaster Recovery:
    Manage data center operations, including physical and virtual resource provisioning, system backups, and disaster recovery planning and execution.
  • Collaboration & Security:
    Work closely with cybersecurity, networking, and application teams to ensure system integrity, security compliance, and regulatory adherence (e.g., DISA STIGs, NIST standards).
  • Automation & Infrastructure as Code (IaC):
    Develop and maintain automated workflows for infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, and system orchestration using tools like Ansible, Terraform, and PowerShell.
  • Documentation & Knowledge Transfer:
    Create and maintain detailed documentation of system architectures, configurations, standard operating procedures, and incident resolutions. Mentor and support junior infrastructure staff.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in enterprise infrastructure administration
  • Active DoD Secret clearance with eligibility for a Top Secret clearance
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Expert-level experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware vSphere/ESXi, Microsoft Hyper-V).
  • Proficient with SAN/NAS storage systems, enterprise backup/recovery platforms, and clustering solutions (e.g., GlusterFS).
  • Strong knowledge of data center operations, disaster recovery environments, and high-availability configurations.
  • Hands-on experience with automation and orchestration tools (e.g., Ansible, Terraform, PowerShell DSC).
  • Working knowledge of ITIL-based service management processes, including incident, problem, and change management.
  • Proficient in security best practices for infrastructure, including patch management, hardening, and vulnerability mitigation.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with a focus on root cause analysis and system optimization.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Industry certifications such as VMware VCP, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, RHCE, or equivalent.
  • Experience with hybrid cloud integration (e.g., Azure Stack, AWS Outposts).
  • Familiarity with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Experience supporting DoD or Federal IT environments, including DISA compliance and STIG implementation.

Posted Min Pay Rate

USD $90,000.00/Yr.

Posted Max Pay Rate

USD $115,000.00/Yr.

Salary Disclosure

Actual salary will be based on a variety of factors including but not limited to experience, geographic location, contract affordability, internal equity, education, and certifications.

The upper end of the salary range may be reserved for individuals who have demonstrated tenure with the company, seniority, and proven excellent performance. This includes factors such as education, certifications, and extensive/unique experience beyond what is required.
