ValidaTek is seeking a talented Data Brokering Engineer to support the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) CSS program at Scott AFB, Illinois. This role supports the secure and efficient flow of CyberNetOps data, contributing directly to mission readiness by developing, maintaining, and enhancing data ingestion and distribution processes using technologies such as Confluent Kafka, Apache NiFi, and RHEL. As a Data Brokering Engineer, you will help build and maintain a resilient, scalable, and secure data brokering infrastructure. You will work with a team of engineers and analysts to support data ingestion pipelines, troubleshoot system issues, and contribute to process automation and documentation. Your work will help ensure timely and accurate delivery of cyber data across internal and external mission partners.
Support the design, configuration, and maintenance of data pipelines using Confluent Kafka, NiFi, and Linux (RHEL) systems.
Monitor data feeds for availability, performance, and data integrity using internal dashboards and monitoring tools.
Assist with integrating new data sources into the data brokering platform, including schema mapping, enrichment logic, and testing.
Support implementation of the Data Index and documentation artifacts (e.g., data dictionaries, feed specifications).
Work with senior engineers to troubleshoot complex data flow issues, implement enhancements, and support change requests.
Collaborate with cybersecurity, network, and systems teams to maintain a secure and compliant data delivery environment.
Contribute to updates of the Data Brokering Service Design Plan (SDP) and operational procedures.
Support scaling activities to meet demand growth and data throughput requirements.
Assist in preparing reports on data system health, performance metrics, and service delivery compliance.
4–7 years of experience in data engineering, systems integration, or related IT roles.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience).
Proficient with Kafka, Apache NiFi, and Linux (preferably RHEL) environments.
Experience with operational support of data flow or messaging systems in enterprise or DoD settings.
Working knowledge of data processing concepts, including transformation, enrichment, schema management, and delivery.
Familiarity with security and compliance standards (e.g., DISA STIGs, DoD cybersecurity practices).
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with attention to operational detail.
Effective communication and documentation skills to support coordination across teams.
