ValidaTek is seeking a highly qualified Senior Cloud Engineer to support the Department of State, Bureau of Consular Affairs Queue Management (CAQM) lobby line management and customer experience program. The CAQM program provides software, hardware and capabilities that improve the customer waiting and service fulfillment experience at the bureau’s domestic Passport Agencies and Overseas Posts. These locations provide Passport, Visa and Overseas Citizen services for U.S. citizens and foreign nationals.

 

The Senior Cloud Engineer will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our cloud infrastructure, platform, and software. You will be responsible for providing expertise on cloud technologies, tools, and best practices to meet availability, scalability, performance, and security requirements for implementing the customer’s systems in a cloud environment. The Cloud Engineer is responsible for setting up front- and back-end platforms and developing an operational cloud-based delivery system. The Cloud Engineer must be able to adapt quickly and respond to new problems and issues efficiently and effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Integrate new applications into cloud environment and transition existing applications into virtualized/cloud environments.
  • Develop and integrate solutions with various platforms and eliminate the need for multiple interfaces to manage cloud environments.
  • Work with other cloud engineers and architects across the enterprise to support applications and systems transition to new cloud platforms.
  • Work with developers and other stakeholders to understand needs and requirements, make recommendations.
  • Conduct the development and enhancement of a system or component that will fully integrate other components from other systems.
  • Ensure that the product or services will integrate seamlessly with current and future environments.
  • Working with ISSO and cybersecurity teams to ensure that the Cloud solution or recommendation is in accordance with NIST guidance on Cloud Computing.
  • Identify and implement strategies for enhancing/optimizing existing cloud architecture.
  • Implement and exercise workload, billing and cost management best practices.
  • Participate in scrum ceremonies

Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of cloud engineering experience
  • BA/BS or equivalent years of experience working in a technical position.
  • Active Secret Clearance
  • Candidate must possess strong cloud engineering experience, including at least three (3) years of experience in deploying enterprise applications in cloud platforms, preferably in Azure.
  • Experience with automation/configuration management using industry standard tools.
  • Strong knowledge of Web Services, API Gateways, and application integration development and design.
  • Working knowledge of cloud application connectors
  • Understanding of Cloud Security Architecture and Shared Security Responsibility models
  •  Knowledge of relational and non-relational databases.
  •  Knowledge of service oriented and microservices architecture.
  •  Knowledge of Scrum Agile Framework, scrum ceremonies, agile software development practices and release management.
  •  Ability to learn fast, adapt to new technology, and keep current with industry certifications. 
  • Thorough understanding of Cloud Computing: virtualization technologies, Infrastructure as a Service, Infrastructure as Code, Platform as a Service, and Software as a Service Cloud delivery models and the current competitive landscape.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively with executive, technical staff, and non-technical staff. 

Posted Min Pay Rate

USD $114,693.12/Yr.

Posted Max Pay Rate

USD $191,155.20/Yr.

Salary Disclosure

Actual salary will be based on a variety of factors including but not limited to experience, geographic location, contract affordability, internal equity, education, and certifications.

The upper end of the salary range may be reserved for individuals who have demonstrated tenure with the company, seniority, and proven excellent performance. This includes factors such as education, certifications, and extensive/unique experience beyond what is required.
