Summary

ValidaTek is seeking a highly qualified Software/QA Tester to support the Department of State, Bureau of Consular Affairs Queue Management (CAQM) lobby line management and customer experience program. The CAQM program provides software, hardware and capabilities that improve the customer waiting and service fulfillment experience at the bureau’s domestic Passport Agencies and Overseas Posts. These locations provide Passport, Visa and Overseas Citizen services for U.S. citizens and foreign nationals.

 

As a Software/QA Tester will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our software products/services. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and executing comprehensive test plans to identify and address any defects or issues before software deployment. This position requires a keen eye for detail, strong analytical skills, and a passion for delivering high-quality software solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute detailed test plans, test cases, and test scripts to thoroughly evaluate software applications.
  • Identify, isolate, and document software defects and track them to resolution.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software developers, engineers, application support teams, project managers, and product owners, to ensure alignment on quality standards and testing requirements.
  • Conduct both manual and automated testing procedures to validate software functionality, performance, and usability.
  • Utilize testing tools and methodologies to streamline the testing process and improve efficiency.
  • Participate in Agile/Scrum development processes, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and sprint reviews.
  • Stay updated on industry best practices and emerging trends in software testing and quality assurance.
  • Provide timely and accurate reports on test results, defect status, and overall software quality metrics.
  • Advise best practices and optimizations throughout testing and bug-fixing processes.
  • Collaborate with others to create test plans and new approaches for seeking out bugs and exploits in end-user-facing applications.

Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree and at least 5 years of experience working in a technical position.
  • Active Secret Clearance
  • Proven experience in software testing and quality assurance, preferably in a professional/enterprise environment.
  • Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies, including Agile/Scrum.
  • Proficiency in testing tools and technologies, such as Selenium, JIRA, Jenkins, or similar.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Solid communication skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Experience with test automation frameworks and scripting languages (e.g., Python, Java).
  • ISTQB, Six Sigma, CSTE, CSQA or other relevant certifications are preferred, but not required.
