Summary

ValidaTek is seeking a highly qualified Deployment Support Engineer to support the Department of State, Bureau of Consular Affairs Queue Management (CAQM) lobby line management and customer experience program. The CAQM program provides software, hardware and capabilities that improve the customer waiting and service fulfillment experience at the bureau’s domestic Passport Agencies and Overseas Posts. These locations provide Passport, Visa and Overseas Citizen services for U.S. citizens and foreign nationals.

 

The Deployment Support Engineer will provide hands-on deployment, installation and application support for a customized version of the Q-Flow lobby line management software system as well as the associated software and hardware components that are integrated into the functionality of the system (customized software modules to expand COTS capabilities, self-service kiosks, manager dashboards, over-the-counter media player displays, lobby media player displays, ethernet cabling, HDMI extenders, USB extenders, scanners, printers, etc).  Working as the Deployment Support Engineer, you travel up to 75% to OCONUS and CONUS locations to install system components. When not traveling, you will be preparing for deployments and supporting the operations of the system remotely.

Responsibilities

  • Travel on deployment/install trips to overseas US Embassies and US based Passport Agencies to install and configure Q-Flow hardware and software system components (Travel can be up to 75% a month but will vary depending on scheduling)
  • Image Microsoft Windows workstations and install Q-Flow and related software on the workstations.
  • Configure DHCP server scopes and options to support Q-Flow peripheral operation.
  • Install and configure Amino, Navori and other vendor media players.
  • Install HDMI over ethernet signal extenders between Windows workstations and lobby displays.
  • Troubleshoot display/TV issues.
  • Install USB connected receipt printers and hand-held scanners on Windows workstations.

Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree and at least 5 years of experience working in a technical position.
  • Active Secret Clearance
  • Must possess or have the ability to obtain US Passport immediately upon hire.
  • Experience with Windows 10 workstation installation, configuration, and troubleshooting
  • Experience with installing and configuring software on Windows systems.
  • Experience with audio/visual systems, media players, video distribution systems, HDMI extenders, HDMI port splitters, TV/computer displays.
  • General network experience with ethernet cabling, IP addressing, DHCP server, ports and protocols, firewalls.
  • Strong software and system troubleshooting abilities.
  • Self-initiator with independence to acquire and maintain technical skills for professional development.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a challenging environment with varied cultures.
  • Ability to maintain professional customer service while traveling to and spending significant amounts of time at remote deployment sites
  • Able to find creative solutions to problems presented by clients.
  • Experience with Windows Server and Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Experience working with Department of State, specifically the Bureau of Consular Affairs
