Summary

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Senior Network Engineer to support a program with the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA). As the Senior Network Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining complex network infrastructure to support the program's mission. You will collaborate closely with DISA representatives, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure the availability, reliability, and security of the network. The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of network technologies, strong problem-solving abilities, and a track record of successfully supporting DISA programs.

Responsibilities

  • Network Design and Implementation: Design, plan, and implement network architectures, including routers, switches, firewalls, and other network components, to meet program requirements. Ensure scalability, performance, and security of the network infrastructure.
  • Network Operations and Maintenance: Monitor and maintain network performance, ensuring uptime, availability, and optimal functionality. Troubleshoot network issues, analyze root causes, and implement timely resolutions.
  • Security and Compliance: Implement and enforce network security measures, adhering to DISA and industry best practices. Monitor network traffic for potential security threats and vulnerabilities. Ensure compliance with DISA's security policies and guidelines.
  • Network Optimization: Continuously evaluate network performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing optimization strategies. Conduct network capacity planning to meet current and future program needs.
  • Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate closely with DISA representatives, contractors, and other stakeholders to understand program requirements and align network solutions accordingly. Communicate network-related updates, issues, and resolutions effectively to stakeholders.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate and up-to-date network documentation, including network diagrams, configurations, and change management records. Prepare regular reports on network performance, metrics, and capacity utilization for program management and stakeholders.
  • Technology Evaluation and Integration: Stay current with emerging network technologies, trends, and industry best practices. Evaluate new technologies and assess their potential integration into the program's network infrastructure to enhance performance and security.
  • Team Leadership and Mentoring: Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior network engineers. Foster a collaborative and supportive work environment, promoting knowledge sharing and professional growth within the team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is required. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Proven experience (8+ years) as a Network Engineer, preferably in supporting DISA programs or other government contracts.
  • Active DoD Top Secret clearance - required.
  • Deep understanding of network technologies, protocols, and architectures, including routing, switching, VPN, firewalls, and load balancers.
  • Strong knowledge of network security principles and best practices, including experience with network security technologies such as IDS/IPS, SIEM, and endpoint protection.
  • Expertise in network troubleshooting and performance optimization, utilizing network monitoring and analysis tools.
  • Familiarity with DISA network infrastructure and familiarity with DISA STIGs (Security Technical Implementation Guides).
  • Industry certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, or equivalent are highly desirable.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to work effectively under pressure.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience with network management tools, configuration management, and automation frameworks is a plus.
