Summary

We are seeking a talented and motivated Mid Systems Engineer to support a program with the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA). As a Mid Systems Engineer, you will play a vital role in designing, deploying, and maintaining complex systems to support the program's mission. You will collaborate closely with DISA representatives, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure the availability, reliability, and performance of the program's systems. The ideal candidate has a solid technical foundation, strong problem-solving skills, and a passion for delivering high-quality solutions in a DISA environment.

Responsibilities

  • System Design and Implementation: Assist in the design and implementation of systems architecture, including hardware, software, and network components, to meet program requirements. Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure compatibility, scalability, and security.
  • System Deployment and Configuration: Support the deployment and configuration of systems, including servers, storage, virtualization, and operating systems. Ensure proper installation, integration, and functionality of system components.
  • System Maintenance and Support: Monitor and maintain the performance, availability, and reliability of systems. Perform system upgrades, patches, and troubleshoot system issues. Provide timely resolution to incidents and problems.
  • System Security and Compliance: Implement and enforce system security measures, adhering to DISA and industry best practices. Conduct regular vulnerability assessments and ensure compliance with DISA's security policies and guidelines.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Create and maintain accurate and up-to-date system documentation, including system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides. Prepare reports on system performance, metrics, and incidents for program management and stakeholders.
  • System Monitoring and Performance Optimization: Monitor system performance, identify areas for improvement, and implement optimization strategies. Conduct capacity planning to ensure system resources meet program demands.
  • Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate closely with DISA representatives, contractors, and other stakeholders to understand program requirements and align system solutions accordingly. Communicate system-related updates, issues, and resolutions effectively to stakeholders.
  • Technology Evaluation and Integration: Stay updated with emerging technologies, trends, and industry best practices. Evaluate new technologies and assess their potential integration into the program's systems to enhance performance and functionality.
  • Continuous Learning and Professional Development: Stay abreast of DISA policies, guidelines, and technologies. Pursue relevant certifications and training opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is required.
  • Proven experience (3-7 years) as a Systems Engineer, preferably in supporting DISA programs or similar government contracts.
  • Active DoD Top Secret clearance - required.
  • Strong understanding of systems architecture, infrastructure components, and virtualization technologies.
  • Proficiency in deploying and configuring systems, including servers, storage, operating systems (Windows/Linux), and virtualization platforms (VMware/Hyper-V).
  • Familiarity with system security principles, DISA STIGs (Security Technical Implementation Guides), and vulnerability assessment tools.
  • Experience with system monitoring and performance optimization tools.
  • Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Bash) for automation and system administration tasks.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex system issues.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Industry certifications such as CompTIA Security+, Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE), or VMware Certified Professional (VCP) are a plus.
